The Salnes red wine festival

The fertile lands of Ribadumia produce excellent quality vegetables and wines as the Albarinho wine, which throughout the years has achieved great international fame for its aroma and frutal flavour. Ribadumia is well known throught Galicia for its popular Salnes Red Wine Festival held in Barrantes every July since 1967. The Barrantes wine is one of the best wines produced by traditional methods and it has been impassioned by many writers.

There are also interesting pilgrimages in Ribadumia (29th July) and Santa Baia (4th October).

Manor houses in Ribadumia

The monuments of Ribadumia are the Pazo de Pedreira, (old property of the Marinhos de Lobeira), the Pazo de Barrantes and the Pazo do Monte in Lois.

Religious architecture can be admired at the Churches of Santa Maria de Besomanho, Santo Andre de Barrantes, San Xoan de Leiro, Santa Eulalia de Ribadumia and San Clemente de Sisan, all of them originally romanic-styled with baroque modifications.

Tourist can also visit very antique workings. The forts and the celt villages of Con das Sete Pias and Monte do Castro are well preserved, the same as in Leiro and Besomanho.
