The best meeting resort during the Galician summer
Sanxenxo, noble summer town during the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries, is nowadays the most popular summer resort of Galicia since the 70s. The warm southern microclimate allows to get a tan and enjoy its beautiful beaches: Silgar, Baltar, Canelinhas, Montalvo, Foxos and A Lanzada. Other touristic assets are its beauty and privileged location at the Rias Baixas scenery. Located close to Sanxenxo is A Toxa Resort, the Ons and Arousa Isles, as well as the city of Pontevedra.
Portonovo in Sanxenxo is the ideal place for the practice of water sports: sailing, windsurfing, waterskiing and jet skiing. You can also enjoy yourself in air sports (parapente, ultralite) or other traditional sports such as motorcycling, swimming, and tennis. There are golf courses in A Toxa and Moanha.
Nights in Sanxenxo are the longest and the most enjoyable in Galicia: they usually start in the traditional town bars or in Portonovo, then people go to the pubs until early hours of the morning, when everybody go to the discoteques.

Sanxenxo monuments
Sanxenxo is an excelent departure point for excursions around the area. Both civil and religious architecture can be admired in Adina, Nantes, Padrinhan, Bordons and Gondar.
The romanic chapel of Nosa Senhora and the Tower (which was used as a surveillance point during the Viking invasions) can be found in A Lanzada. The Lanzada pilgrimage is very popular in Galicia : following the Celt ritual of fertility, Galician women bathe in the nine ocean waves to protect themselves from infertility and witchcraft.
