The Albarinho Festival, National Touristic Party
During the Middle Ages Cambados defended the Galicia's capital against the Viking invasions, as the memory remains at the San Sadurniho Tower. King Fernando II gave Cambados the title of "Royal Town" in the XIIth century, and in the capital of the Salnes peninsula was born Ramon Cabanillas, the Galician National Poet of the XXth century.
Cambados is a famous town because its beautiful sea and gastronomy but is specially recognized by its wine. Cambados' wine quality is exalted in the Albarinho Festival, declared National Touristical Party. Elaborated from grapes imported from Germany in the XIIth century, the famous Albarinho is still produced by using traditional methods and it is rated as one of the best white wines of Europe.
Other interesting Cambados' feasts are the Carmen's Day's sea procession, the San Bieito de Fefinháns pilgrimage (in july) and the religious feasts in Santa Matinha de Augas Santas and Virxe da Pastora.

Cambados’ monuments
There are many manor houses in Cambados such as the Casa dos Faxardo, Santo Tome do Mar, the Parador Nacional do Albarinho, the Pazo de Ulloa built in the XVth century, and the Royal Hospital built in the XVIth century.
Other interesting civil arquitectural examples are the Fefinhans' square, the Pazo de Figueroa, the neoclassical church of San Bieito and the seamill of Seca in Corbillon.
In Santa Maria Dozo there are remains of the gothic church and cementery, also declared an Artistic-Historical Monument. Near the coast are as well the ruins of the Sadurninho's Tower, built in the Xth Century, that controlled this part of the estuary during the Viking invasions. From the Monte Pastora's hill there is a nice view of Meis, O Grove, Vilanova, Arousa Island and the Umia river's natural park.
